Aplicator – in the Olympic Games in Beijing!

SWE 49er Olympic Challenge 2008

Aplicator System AB supported and sponsored the Swedish 49er team which competed in the Olympic Games in Beijing! The team consisted of Jonas Lindberg (skipper) and Kalle Torlén (crew) with many years of sailing experience.

Jonas and Kalle competed very well in the very demanding conditions in China with a mix of very light winds and strong currents.

The 49er is with its light weight, aerodynamic shape and wide wings an incredible fast boat, full of action. Two persons are standing in a trapeze trying to balance the boat down on the side. With its large asymmetric shape of sail and bowsprit the boat will come up at a speed of 30 knots at maximum.

The 49er is very demanding to sail due to the speed and sail area. A mistake in the teamwork will immediately lead to that the boat turns around. Due to the action the competitions are often broadcasted on sports channels like Eurosport and followed by thousands of spectators along the shores.

We at Aplicator System AB wish them good luck and good winds for the future!
